Essentials by Ellen

Under The Weather?

Today's project is an entry into Ellen Hutson's Pin Sights Challenge!  The inspiration images are beautiful!  For my project, I used several Essentials by Ellen sets...

  • All Inside (the cute bear image with the arms cut out)
  • Bear Ware (the umbrella)
  • Wonky Backgrounds (the grass)
  • Warm Fuzzies (the sentiment)

Under the weather 4.30.17

To start, I used a Clarity Stencil brush to lay down a small area of purple ink and stamped a bit of grass on the bottom edge.  The bear and umbrella images were stamped, colored with copics and cut out using the matching dies.  The umbrella also has a layer of glossy accents for some shine. The sentiment is white heat embossed on black cardstock, with and inside sentiment "Feel Better Soon."

Double Partial Die Cutting

Hello all!  I don't do this technique very often but I love it!   The double partial die cutting is easy once you do it a few times.   This project features the Essentials By Ellen All Inside and the coordinating die.  The bear is colored with copics and the sunshine sentiment is also colored a "sunshine yellow."  The little guy is so cute and the die cuts out his hands so he can hold all kinds of things!

The sun rays in the die cut window were created using the My Favorite Things Sun Ray stencil some ink blending with distress inks.

Essentials by Ellen Warm Fuzzies and All Inside

Today's project is an entry in the Essentials by Ellen Pin Sights Challenge - here is the inspiration photo.

I decided to use my newly arrived Essentials by Ellen Warm and Fuzzies set along with the Essentials By Ellen All Inside Set.

Hugs 8.22.16

First, I colored the bear with copics, inspired by a post by Dawn Woleslagle on the WPlus9 Blog.  I wanted to try to achieve a lighter color for the bear - it always seems like my critters end up being too dark.  I liked how it turned out!  After cutting him out with the matching die, I adhered him to a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor cardstock that I had masked off and loosely watercolored.  The greeting that the bear is holding is from the Warm Fuzzies set and was white heat embossed.    The Hugs greeting is from the All Inside set stamped with black versafine ink embossed with clear embossing powder.

Essentials By Ellen All Inside

I'm all about stamp sets that have critters - especially bears!  And this bear is special because the die cuts out his arms so he can hold things.  I decided to use the Essentials By Ellen All Inside set to make my husband's Fathers Day Card.  The sentiment "You Are My Sunshine" is great!  This project will also be entered in the Essentials By Ellen June Pin Sights Challenge.  Here is the inspiration picture...

And here is my project...

First, I applied some blue and yellow ink with an mini ink blending tool.  Then I stamped all the images and colored them with copics.  I used the dies to cut the shapes and popped everything up with foam tape.  The "Sunshine" sentiment is stamped directly on the background and the "You are mine" sentiment is white heat embossed on black cardstock.

Giftable Tags of Christmas - #1

Today's post is my first Christmas Tag for 2016.  Each year,  I make several tags in multiples for Christmas gifts.  I love to be able to do this throughout the year!  This tag is inspired by a Julie Ebersole quick tag in this post and features the Essentials by Ellen Bokeh Dots set for the wreath with the sentiment from Essentials By Ellen Cozy Christmas.   I used some embroidery floss as a finishing touch.

This project will be entered in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge.

Wish Big!

I am so happy to finally have this stamp set - Essentials By Ellen Wish Big by Julie Ebersole!  So I had to use it for the current Ellen Hutson's Mix It Up Challenge.  The challenge is to combine an Essentials by Ellen product and one by Impression Obsession.  Here is my project incorporating the Wish Big set with an Impression Obsession Background - Distressed Brick.

The Distressed Brick background is clear heat embossed - just partially stamped - on a card base of SU Crumb Cake.  The images from Wish Big are watercolored with watercolor pencils.  To top it off, the sentiment is white heat embossed on a scrap of orange cardstock.

Now I need the dies for the set! :)

Hey Chickie!

For today's project, I decided to do another entry in Ellen Hutson's Mix It Up Challenge.  The challenge is to use an Essentials By Ellen product with one from Paper Smooches.  I decided to use Paper Smooches Chubby Chums along with Bokeh Dots by Julie.

First, I colored the chick image and fussy cut it out.  Then I masked off a circle on the card front and used the Bokeh Dots set to create a fun and colorful frame.  To finish, I added the chick and added a sentiment.

Bokeh Thank You

Hello all!  Today's project is an entry in Ellen Hutson's July Mix It Up With Paper Smooches Challenge. These challenges are really fun to do!

I used the Essentials By Ellen Bokeh Dots by Julie and the Paper Smooches Chit Chat set to make a super simple thank you card.  First, I masked off the edges of the card with blue painters tape and sponges on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  Next, I used the Bokeh Dots set with a very light gray ink to add some more dimension to the background.  After finishing the background, I removed the mask, stamped the sentiment in Black Versafine Ink and heat embossed  with clear embossing powder.

Happy Birthday To You!

Today's post is my entry in Essentials by Ellen Mix It Up Challenge - the challenge is to combine products by Essentials by Ellen and Avery Elle.   This project features the Bokeh Dots by Julie set and the Avery Elle Handwritten Notes set.

This card is a one-layer watercolor card!  I cut a piece of watercolor paper to make an A2 size card. The background is white heat embossed with the using the Bokeh set.  Next, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to watercolor to create an ombre look.  The greeting is heating embossed on black cardstock with some vellum and loose gold twine behind it.
